Updated: Jun 21, 2021

The reason to book a language course abroad is not only to learn a new language, but to get the opportunity to meet people from all around the world, make new friends and learn about new cultures.

In football, you obviously want your team to win against your opponent. You wear your own teams shirt, sing songs from your country and of course speak your own language.

Even though we play against each other, it's an amazing opportunity to connect with other people which has been seen in every major football tournament.

This years Euros is held in different cities around Europe which gives fans the chance to visit several different destinations. "Fan zones", are specific areas for supporters where they can watch the games, buy food/drinks, listen to music and interact with others. This is where many fans from all over Europe meet and discuss what everyone there have in common - their love for the game!

It doesn't matter if you for instance only speak your native language, whether it's English, French or Spanish. People always find ways to communicate and manage to make new international friends.

Let's say you are traveling to Rome but don't know a word of Italian. You may think it will be absolutely impossible to communicate if the people around you cannot speak English, but let us tell you that you cannot be further away from the truth.

One of the goals of The Language Union is to bring people from all over the world together. Of course it helps by knowing the basics of the language of the country you want to visit, but trust us when we say that it doesn't matter if you are a complete beginner. Other students are in the same position as you, and you will still be able to interact and have fun together.

Common interests, (in this case football) helps massively when trying to interact with others. When you go on your language trip, you and your classmates will all have language learning and traveling in common. Keep this in mind if you are worried traveling with no vocabulary skills of your chosen language.

Book your next adventure today, and don't be afraid of following your dreams of learning your favourite language!
